Service Description
The Tier 2 Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Autism and Learning Disabilities - Train the Co-Trainer (Expert by Experience) is a specialised three-day course designed for autistic individuals who wish to become co-trainers. This training empowers participants to deliver this essential training alongside a facilitator, bringing valuable lived experiences to the sessions and enhancing the overall impact of the training. By becoming a co-trainer, you will play a key role in expanding the reach of this critical training across Health & Social Care, promoting more inclusive and supportive environments. We will cover all the content delivered within the 1-day course and prepare co-trainers to deliver this training effectively by: - Reviewing the core content of the Oliver McGowan Training. - Developing co-training skills to present information clearly and share personal experiences. - Learning how to work with facilitators, having group discussions, handling questions, and creating a supportive learning environment. - Understanding the role of a co-trainer. - Receiving coaching on delivering sensitive topics. To be a co-trainer you must; - Have lived experience of being autistic, bringing personal insights that will enrich the training delivery. - Be open to sharing experiences, helping to build a deeper understanding among attendees. Cancellation Policy
This training is reliant on people with lived experience to co-train this session. This being said it is a requirement as part of this that we must co-deliver with an autistic person and a person with a learning disability. Should for what ever reason the co-trainer not be able to attend the session to co-deliver then we must cancel the training.
