Service Description
Tier 2 Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Autism and Learning Disabilities is the government recommended training for training on Learning Disabilities and Autism, it is also the adopted training model by NHS services. This course is designed to equip participants with essential knowledge and skills to better understand and support individuals with autism and learning disabilities. This course aims to promote greater awareness, empathy, and effective communication, helping to create inclusive environments across Health & Social care. Trained by a facilitator and individuals with lived experience, participants will learn about the unique needs and challenges faced by individuals, as well as how to provide appropriate support and reasonable adjustments. This training covers a comprehensive range of topics, including: - Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Learning Disabilities - Recognising and addressing sensory processing issues - Effective communication strategies - The importance of person-centred care - Identifying and reducing potential triggers and anxiety - Strategies to support social interaction and emotional well-being - Legal responsibilities and safeguarding practices - Creating accessible and inclusive environments Time: 1 Day (7 Hours) Max Attendees: 30 Please select your preferred date when booking (date changes can be accommodated). Cancellation Policy
This training is reliant on people with lived experience to co-train this session. This being said it is a requirement as part of this that we must co-deliver with an autistic person and a person with a learning disability. Should for what ever reason the co-trainer not be able to attend the session to co-deliver then we must cancel the training.
