MCA & DoLS for Leaders & Managers

This course helps leaders and managers understand how the Mental Capacity Act and DoLS apply within their service. It explains how to support staff through capacity assessments, how best interest decisions should be reached, and how to recognise when restrictions may amount to a deprivation of liberty. The course promotes clear, consistent decision making that respects choice, autonomy, and legal requirements.

Leaders learn how to oversee MCA and DoLS processes, how to guide staff practice, and how to ensure documentation, reporting and communication are handled appropriately. The training supports managers in creating a confident team that understands its responsibilities and is able to maintain safe and lawful standards of care.
